Victory of Titleist

Victory of Titleist

On the LPGA Tour, Titleist loyalist Dottie Pepper earned her 16th career victory

by sinking a dramatic 35-foot putt from just off the green on the final hole of

regulation to win the Oldsmobile Classic. Pepper, who won her second career major

at the Nabisco Dinah Shore earlier this year, relies upon the Titleist Tour

Prestige golf ball, Titleist irons, a Titleist Titanium 976R driver, Vokey Design

Wedges and a Scotty Cameron by Titleist putter for her success.

Titleist liquid-filled center wound ball technology continues to be the technology

used by more players for more wins on the worldwide professional tours. In

addition to the three victories on the PGA and LPGA tours, David Berganio trusted

the Titleist Professional to win the Nike Permian Basin Open by two strokes, and

Jim Ahern captured his first career victory in just his seventh start on the

Senior PGA Tour. Ahern, who earned a position in the AT&T Canada Senior Open

Championship as a qualifier, also relied upon the Titleist Professional golf ball

to edge Hale Irwin in a playoff. Ahern's win marked Titleist's 17th consecutive

victory on the Senior PGA Tour.

Five more wins increases Titleist's year-to-date victory total on the worldwide

professional tours to 134, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 19.

Further proof, that there really is a difference between a golf ball and the #1

ball in golf.

Titleist and FootJoy Worldwide and Cobra Golf Incorporated comprise the Acushnet

Company, an operating company of Fortune Brands, Inc.

Good Developing Trend in Callaway

Good Developing Trend in Callaway

Callaway trades at 12.6 times its 2008 earnings estimate, compared with the

industry average of 22.5, according to FactSet Research. Fortune Brands, which

owns the Titleist and Cobra brands, has a P/E ratio of 14.8, and Nike Inc. has a

ratio of 18.9.

In late January, the company of Callaway forecast 2008 net sales to increase

between 2% and 4% to a range of $1.15 billion and $1.17 billion. Earnings are

expected to be in the range of $1.08 to $1.18 a share.

April and May are two of the most important months of the year for Callaway,

Mr. Shanley said. With the weather warming up, people are getting excited for

golf and will be determining whether they need a new set of clubs.

"Sales aren't overly robust, but they're not anywhere near the question mark that

some are espousing," Mr. Fellows said, noting business in Europe and Japan

continue to look strong.

Regardless of Callaway's growth prospects, analysts say the nervous investor

isn't going to gain confidence in Callaway -- and other consumer discretionary

stocks -- unless it proves it can weather the storm.

"It's a show-me stock," SunTrust's Mr. Chappell said. "They're going to have to

post the results before anyone gives them credit.

"Callaway should buck the trend better than people expect."

Titleist On Top of the World

Titleist On Top of the World

At the World Golf Championships, where the select 41-player field is comprised of

former Presidents Cup players and current Ryder Cup members, Tiger Woods

demonstrated once again what it takes to be a champion at the highest level of

competitive golf. Talent. Drive. Perseverance. And the right equipment. Titleist.

Trusting the highest performance equipment for his game from tee to green, Tiger

captured his sixth victory of the year and the third in his last five starts,

edging Titleist Professional player Phil Mickelson by one stroke. Mickelson made a

strong final round charge, firing a 5-under par 65 for the best score of the day.

Two weeks ago, Tiger secured his second career major, winning the 81st PGA

Championship by one stroke over fellow Titleist ambassador, Sergio Garcia.

Tiger is committed to being the best player he can be, and that is why he chooses

to play a full bag of the highest performance equipment that best fits his

individual game from tee to green - a Titleist golf ball and Titleist for all 14

clubs. From the Titleist Professional, to Titleist irons, Titleist Titanium 975D

driver, Vokey Design Wedges and a Scotty Cameron by Titleist Pro Platinum putter,

Tiger, just like a growing number of the world's best players, places his

confidence in Titleist for his success.

Like the PGA Championship, where participation of 92 of the world's top 100

players made up the strongest field in golf history, the equipment choices of the

world-class field at the NEC Invitational is another example of the unmatched

momentum of Titleist across every equipment category. Just as more players trusted

their games to Titleist in the golf ball, iron, driver, wedge and putter

categories than any other manufacturer at the recent PGA Championship, Titleist

equipment was once again the choice of more players in each of those categories at

the NEC Invitational.

And the world's best golfers are not only making Titleist their #1 choice in

equipment, they are winning with it. Tiger's victory, combined with this week's

Reno-Tahoe Open winner's reliance on the Titleist Professional golf ball, Titleist

Titanium 975D driver and Titleist Bulls Eye putter, increases Titleist's

overwhelming PGA Tour-leading win counts in the golf ball (31), iron (11), driver

(18) and putter (18) categories. In addition, Titleist Vokey Design wedges have

become a fixture on the PGA Tour, with a growing list of players joining Tiger in

turning to Titleist for their short game success, including this week's Reno-Tahoe

Open winner.

TaylorMade Introduces Draw-Weighted Technology

TaylorMade Introduces Draw-Weighted Technology

For players who fight a slice and want more distance, the Burner Draw is the

perfect driver.

Besides promoting longer and straighter drives, the Burner Draw is extremely easy

to hit. Its deep-faced, 460 cc titanium head sets up powerfully behind the ball,

and includes the same attractive crown lines originated in the Burner and Burner

TP drivers. However, the Burner Draw that TaylorMade creates measures longer from

the clubface to the clubhead’s rear than the standard Burner, allowing for an

extremely low and deep CG location to help get the ball in the air on a high

flight.

Additionally, Draw-Weighted Technology pulls the CG toward the heel, which makes

it physically easier to rotate the face back to square.

One of the beauties of the Burner Draw that TaylorMade creates is that it will

help a lot of golfers hit a draw without making a single swing change.”

Like all TaylorMade drivers, Burner Draw incorporates TaylorMade’s famous

Inverted Cone clubface technology, which dramatically increases the area on the

clubface that delivers high ball speed.

TaylorMade combine that with the clubhead’s high MOI, which also helps maintain ball speed

on mis-hits, and you get an effective MOI that exceeds 5800 (the USGA’s limit on

MOI is 5900).

TaylorMade defines effective MOI (“eMOI”) as the positive influence on ball

speed on off-center hits that’s exerted by the combined effects of a driver’s

MOI and clubface technology (versus constant- thickness clubfaces). eMOI in

TaylorMade drivers is dramatically higher, and more valuable in terms of its

affect on ball speed, than MOI alone, owing to the benefits of TaylorMade’s

patented Inverted Cone Technology. From a performance aspect, that makes the

Burner Draw driver an astonishingly forgiving club that’s incredibly easy to hit

high, long and straight.

I-MIX Technology is introduced to Callaway

I-MIX Technology is introduced to Callaway

Callaway Golf has announced the introduction of I-MIX Technology, a major

breakthrough in do-it-yourself club customization. The new technology, which

capitalizes on the U.S. Golf Association and Royal & Ancient’s rule change on

club adjustability, gives golfers the ability to create the perfect driver for

their game every time they play.

Callaway Golf’s I-MIX Technology, featuring a wide variety of the most sought-

after shafts in the market, including shafts from Aldila, Fujikura, and Mitsubishi

Rayon, will be available on FT-i and FT-5 club heads. More than 1,600 shaft-head

combinations will give golfers the flexibility to quickly customize their driver

to meet the varying challenges each individual round of golf presents.

“Our new I-MIX Technology gives golfers the same access and ability to experiment

and optimize their equipment that tour professionals have,” said Jeff Colton,

Senior Vice President of Research and Development for Callaway Golf.

“No one’s swing is the same from day-to-day – neither are the weather or course

conditions. Our I-MIX Technology gives everyone the ability to quickly and easily

customize their equipment, every time they play.”

In addition to the clubhead and shaft options, I-MIX Technology includes Callaway

Golf’s Opti-Fit Weighting System, which lets golfers choose a Draw or Neutral

center of gravity (CG) position to help counteract their most common swing flaws

for longer and straighter drives.

A New Technology in Titleist

A New Technology in Titleist

Titleist, the undisputed leader in golf ball technology, advances its industry leading NXT

microbrand with the introduction of the new NXT Tour and NXT Extreme golf balls. The new

offerings have been designed to deliver best in category performance, distance and quality

for golfers looking to optimize performance and maximize distance.

“With the established equity in and immense loyalty to the Titleist NXT golf ball

franchise, our primary objective was to make the best performing and best-selling golf balls

in their respective categories the most advanced yet,” said George Sine, Vice President,

Golf Ball Marketing and Strategic Planning – Worldwide. “The New NXT Tour advancements in

tee-to-green performance have been designed to accelerate its acceptance by better, aspiring

players, while the enhancements to the Titleist NXT Extreme establish new benchmarks for distance

and soft feel within the two-piece premium golf ball segment.”

Expanding upon its long and soft legacy, the advancements to the New NXT Tour have elevated

its position in the high performance multi-layer category. Meanwhile, the New NXT Extreme

continues to deliver superior distance and soft feel with a more controlled ball flight and

maintains its leadership position in the two-piece premium distance segment. The direction

of the Titleist is the result of significant consumer research and player validation by the

respective target audiences of not only the new product performance, but the positioning,

packaging and naming of the new offerings as well.

Among the enhancements to the New NXT Tour and New NXT Extreme is a new Staggered Wave

parting line that was first utilized by Titleist with the introduction of the New Pro V1 and

Pro V1x golf balls earlier this year.

“The Staggered Wave parting line effectively increases the dimple surface coverage on the

golf ball which contributes to improved aerodynamics and a more consistent ball flight,”

said Bill Morgan, Senior Vice President of Golf Ball Research & Development, Acushnet

Company. “The combination of the new Staggered Wave parting line, with improved surface

coverage and dimple dimension changes, will provide golfers with optimized distance off the

driver and long irons, as well as a slightly higher ball flight with both the Titleist NXT Tour and

NXT Extreme.”

Also first introduced by Titleist on the Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls and incorporated into

the New NXT Tour and NXT Extreme, is the new Alignment Integrated Marking (A.I.M.)

sidestamp, which provides a unique point of difference. The Titleist NXT Tour and NXT Extreme

model designations have been integrated into the sidestamp and are accompanied by extended arrows

on each side of the model name. The A.I.M. sidestamp provides a consistent focal point for

golfers to better align their putts if they desire. The acceptance and reception to the

A.I.M. sidestamp from golfers who have experienced it has been effusive.

Tour Burner Irons is introduced to TaylorMade

Tour Burner Irons is introduced to TaylorMade

TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company has introduced the Tour Burner iron, engineered to deliver

improved performance to players of all levels, from tour pros to weekend players.

“Occasionally a golf club comes along that appeals to the broadest possible spectrum of

players,” said Sean Toulon, TaylorMade vice president of product innovation and creation.

“The Tour Burner iron belongs in that group. Our testing indicates that it offers a rare

combination of attributes that appeal to highly skilled golfers as well as average golfers”

Tour Burner irons feature a variety of technologies that allow them to live up to the Burner

family reputation for speed and distance, starting with an ultra-thin, 2.2 millimeter

clubface that delivers high COR for increased ball speed and distance. In comparison, the

average competitor’s face thickness measures 2.8 mm. Tour Burner irons also feature

TaylorMade’s Inverted Cone clubface technology, visible on the backside of the clubface.

Pioneered in our drivers, Inverted Cone Technology enlarges the portion of the clubface that

delivers high ball speed, allowing Tour Burner to promote improved ball speed and distance

on off-center hits.

Distinct heel and toe weighting is visible on the back of Tour Burner irons in TaylorMade, which

increases MOI for greater stability and performance on off-center hits. The large “multi-

functional”sole is beveled at the back to make it perform like a much thinner sole, which increases

playability from a variety of lies. This “multi-functional” sole is critical to promoting

a performance difference that helps separate the Tour Burner from other irons of its type.

The multi-functional sole also features a low and deeper center of gravity that makes the new

TaylorMade products easy to launch the ball on a powerful and penetrating flight.

The Tour Burner irons’ substantial technology is packed into an extremely appealing, tour-

inspired clubhead shape. At address, the Tour Burner iron’s medium-thin top-line looks

clean, substantial and inviting a??a look intended to please all levels of players. The

moderate offset is finely contoured to look less substantial than it actually is. The new

chrome-plated satin-buff finish looks clean and classy while also increasing durability.

TaylorMade engineers also positioned a badge in the back cavity; the badge’s design and the

specific adhesive used to affix it to the back of the thin clubface together help to tune

the feel and sound at impact, contributing to a more satisfying experience.

The Tour Burner is equipped with the TaylorMade Tour Velvet grip by Golf Pride and is

available in a choice of two shafts: Burner 105 steel made by True Temper , which offers a

similar flight and dispersion pattern to the Dynamic Gold but at 105 grams is lighter,

helping to promote added clubhead speed. The second shaft option is the graphite Burner REAX

65 (65-grams, S, R and M flex only).

Tour Burner irons are available in 2-iron through 9-iron, plus 46-degree pitching wedge, 55-

degree sand wedge, 50-degree attack wedge and 60-degree lob wedge. Availability begins at

TaylorMade’s retail partners in April 2008 for at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price

of US$840 per set (3- to PW) in steel; US$1,040 in graphite. Individual clubs carry an MSRP

of US$105 in steel and US$135 in graphite.

The Record Release of New Callaway Products

The Record Release of New Callaway Products

Undaunted by the number of new products it launched in 2007, Callaway Golf has gone even

further this season with a record-setting introduction of clubs and balls for 2008.

"This is the deepest, most robust new product lineup we've ever offered," said George

Fellows, Callaway Golf president and CEO.

Callaway Hyper X driver

Overall, there are more than 30 new offerings in the Callaway portfolio, which includes

Callaway-named products, along with Odyssey putters and Top-Flite balls and clubs. The

introductions follow 2007, which itself represented one of Callaway's largest launches of

new products, including three new drivers, three sets of irons and several Odyssey putters.

Among the notable Callaway items for 2008 are Hyper X and Hyper X Tour drivers, new Big

Bertha irons, FT-i Squareway woods, FT i-brid irons, Tour i and Tour ix balls, X-Forged

wedges and a new HX Pearl ball. There's also a wide selection of new women's clubs, along

with a new X Junior set. There are four new lines of putters in the Odyssey lineup, along

with a Marxman X-act putting wedge. The new Top-Flite fleet includes Gamer, Freak and XL-

5000 balls, plus six sets of clubs geared for the recreational player.

"Technology is a major factor in the launch of new products," said Bill Knees, Callaway's

senior vice president of marketing. "Callaway spends aggressively on research and

development, and the company is a technological leader. When new products that perform

better and will help golfers improve their games are ready, we want to make them available."

Callaway also is one of the major manufacturers stressing custom fitting. The company has

supplied select retailers and golf pro shops worldwide with its OptiFit Fitting System.

Using it along with a trained professional, golfers can test multiple variations of driver

and iron clubheads and shafts, and then determine the right model and combination to best

help their playing styles.

"The benefit of using OptiFit when golfers are buying clubs is simple: getting players into

the perfect club for them," said Knees.

For those seeking the ultimate in customization, Callaway just began offering its new I-MIX

Technology, which consists of a choice of different clubheads and interchangeable shafts.

More than 1,600 shaft-head combinations are available overall, with pricing varied for each.

"No one's swing is the same from day to day," said Jeff Colton, senior vice president of

R&D. "I-MIX Technology gives everyone the ability to quickly and easily customize their

equipment, every time they play."
